In about an hour we're hitting the road again on our way down the Pacific Coast Highway to sunny Los Angeles. I can't wait to get there! It will be great to see Mark again, and Jenny and I are both looking forward to hanging out with our old Tennessee pals, Shannon and Vijay.

Big thanks to Avery, Rob, and Horton for welcoming us with open arms and kitty paws and making us feel at home. We love you and your beautiful city, and we hope to return soon. You've been amazing hosts!

On to the bad news of the moment. I just found out that my favorite TV show, The Screen Savers, is being completely overhauled in a bad way (in my opinion, which is all that matters). Almost the entire cast and crew have been fired, and they're replacing them with a bunch of other not-so-awesome personalities from the G4-TechTV network. Why does this matter to me so much? Because Jenny and I were supposed to see the show LIVE in the studio audience this Monday. We requested tickets but never heard back from them, and now we know why. This Monday is the first show "under new management", and I guess they're changing the format and not letting anyone attend in person. Or maybe they're just using a hand-picked crowd to make sure the live audience responds favorably. Whatever. We'll see. I'm a huge nerd, I know. Ha ha. But the fact of the matter is that I'm going to be in the city where my favorite show is produced, and I'm going to miss it. Sort of reminds me of a certain Grand Canyon debacle that took place not so long ago.

At least it's sunny. I'm going to Fat Burger.

Zach, Your aunt and I made a similar trip to California 24 years ago. We quit good jobs for me to take a sight-unseen position in a sight-unseen town just so we could live in California. (I can't help but pronounce it the way Arnold does even as I write.) We stayed six years and then moved to some small town in Indiana where everybody smoked. (Why oh why didn't I take the blue pill.) Enjoy your odyssey.
